As Thanksgiving is fast approaching, we here at JCTC are gearing up for our 61st FFA Thanksgiving Food Drive!
EJHS has starting collecting food drive items through our 1st period classes. All of the food that is raised is given DIRECTLY to families in Jessamine County! Many of the families that we serve are families of students. 17.1% of Jessamine Countians live below the poverty line. That being said, we have numerous students in each of our schools have been coded as homeless. The food drive is a great opportunity to provide some assistance to families that may have fallen on hard times.
If you would like to make a monetary donation, or your students would like to, each $1.00 will account 2 items toward your total item count. Money is used to purchase perishable items the day of the food box delivery which will take place in the afternoon of November 21st.
Boxes are going to be delivered toward the end of this week to every teacher that has a 1st period class. Items that we are in need of include but is NOT limited to:
- Canned foods (green beans, corn, potatoes, carrots, cranberry sauce, mixed veggies, yams)
- Fruit cups
- Fruit Snacks
- Cake and muffin mixes
- Pudding cups
- Potatoes by the lb.
- Boxed mashed potatoes
The FFA students have set a goal to feed 75 Jessamine County families and gather a total of 20,000 food items this year! Last years totals were just under 15,000..... SO WE NEED YOUR HELP!
