Here are some sources of information about bridges that you might enjoy viewing. They include pictures of bridges, historical information, and information about many types of bridges we see around us everyday. We hope you enjoy spending time in these pages.

Super Bridge page from NOVA -- This site is presented by the critically acclaimed NOVA series seen on PBS television. It gives background information about different types of bridges, and even has a game that you can play to show your expertise in choosing the type of bridge that should be used in various situation.

Cable-stayed Bridges -- This site gives some good photos of several cable-stayed bridges.  This technique of building bridges is becoming more popular around the world.

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel Site -- As one of the marvels of modern engineering, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel system is certainly worth reviewing.  This site details the construction, history, and value of this major accomplishment.  Check it out!

Kentucky Atlas and Gazetteer - Covered Bridges -- One more site which has a lot of information about covered bridges in Kentucky.  This site is maintained by the University of Kentucky.

Disappearing Bridges -- This site has a lot of information concerning bridges in Pennsylvania.  There are many pictures of steel truss bridges you may be interested in.


Bridge Builder Software Page -- This link leads to the Pre-Engineering Software Corporation's web page. They market a computer program called Bridge Builder that allows you to build a bridge and test it using your computer. Various loads can be applied to the bridge, and the results can be seen on your monitor.  This site also has a good number of bridge photos and other information available.
