Congratulations to teacher, Lynn Settles and the East Jessamine Middle School Gateway to Technology program for being selected as the 2010 Kentucky Engineering and Technology Education Middle School Program of the Year! The award, presented by the KY Engineering and Technology Education Association (KETEA), recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of Technology Education through providing cutting edge learning opportunities for students. The EJMS program, led by Mr. Settles, is a feeder program for the Project Lead the Way Pre-Engineering program at the Jessamine Career and Technology Center. Jessamine Schools Superintendent, Lu Young applauds Settles and the EJMS program, saying, “Career technical programs like these are extremely important as we help students as early as middle school to start thinking about future careers in science, technology, engineering and math. These programs also provide students with relevant, hands-on learning opportunities, making science and math “real” and more understandable.” Mr. Settles will be honored at the KETEA conference in July 2010.
