Third grade is a time for students to grow as independent readers and writers. We will be reading engaging picture and chapter books as a whole group and in small groups. Students will respond to reading through writing, and they will work on developing their personality in their writing pieces as well. In math, we will continue to use hands-on tools to build our foundation of addition and subtraction, and students will use that to learn new skills like multiplication and division. This will also be the first year that your student will take the K-PREP test!

Third grade is not all about academics.  It is also about relationships and social growth.  I hope to provide a classroom environment where your child feels safe to grow in this area. Our classmates are our family during the school day! In our classroom, we will agree to treat everyone with respect as we work together in partners, small groups, and whole group settings. I am excited to see the relationships that will form in our classroom this year!

Communication between parents/ guardians and the teacher is key!  Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that arise.  Reaching me through email is the most efficient form of communication. You are always welcome in our classroom as a parent, volunteer, and support system.  I hope that you find the following information helpful as we start the third grade journey together!
