My name is Maggie Blanton and I currently teach Algebra 1 at West Jessamine High. It's an honor to teach at the high school from which I graduated in 2008. After high school, I attended Eastern Kentucky University where I graduated Magna Cum Laude with my Bachelor's in Middle Grades Education. The areas of emphasis I focused on were in math and science since those were the areas I enjoyed most growing up. I have my dad to thank for my love of math as he always instilled the importance of knowing how to do computations without using a calculator. Whether it was determining the correct tip at a restaurant to figuring the amount of change we should receive at a store to figuring out how many yards were needed for a first down, he always encouraged me to apply math to the real world.
I taught math for 3 years at the middle school level before beginning my first year at WJHS. Why the change to high school? I felt this would be a great opportunity to try something new in my department and I have not looked back. I'm proud to be part of the amazing and supportive staff at WJHS. The 2016-17 school year will be my second year at WJHS.
I am always available via email if at any time you have any questions or concerns regarding your student. Please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
NTI - Non-Traditional Instructional Days
In Jessamine County, we are fortunate to have the opportunity to utilize NTI days when we are not able to attend school due to inclement weather. Studens can find assignments within this website. Assignments can be submitted via email or hard copy the next day we are in school. NTI work does count as a grade!
