The WJHS Concert Choir is the vocal ensemble for non-auditioned students. Every student who wishes to participate in any other WJHS choral ensembles must have some experience in the Chorale. Members of the Chorale study all areas and aspects of choral music, such as music theory, music literacy, sight-singing, rhythm reading, and the body of knowledge. The Chorale sings selections of all styles and genres, and gives a public performance every quarter of the school year.
Chorale is a co-curricular class, meaning that grades are given not just in the classroom setting during the school day, but also by events and performances that occur outside of school time.
Understand that Chorale is a performance class. All students are expected to always participate and perform to the highest level of their ability. Ensemble singing checks as well as assessments from music theory and sight-singing will take place.
If you enjoy singing and you want to know more about becoming a better musician, join the WJHS Chorale!
