Card-Flipping Classroom Management System


Because I have high expectations for all students, I use a school wide card flipping classroom management strategy to help enforce my rules and expectations in my classroom.  Each student has a pocket on my classroom chart that has a card in it.  Each card has four different color circles on it: green, yellow, blue, and red.  Each child begins the day with the green dot showing in his or her pocket.  If no rules are broken, students will continue throughout the entire day with the green dot showing in his or her pocket.  If your child receives a warning about a misbehavior, your child's card will turn to yellow.  If a child continues to break a rule, his or her card will be turned to the blue dot.  When a child’s card is turned to the blue dot, the child will walk five minutes during recess.  If the child continues to break the rule, his or her card will be turned to red.  If a child’s card is turned to red, the student will walk for ten minutes at recess.  If the student still continues to break a rule, the student will have his or her card pulled and may be referred to the office as well as loose all of his or her recess.  Parents will be contacted as well.  

 

             

        

Class Rewards Systems

Our classroom also has class rewards systems that encourage my students to work as a team.  These rewards systems reward the entire class for doing things such as walking quietly in the hallway, being quiet during a lesson, participating in a lesson, or following adult directions.

Loosing Our Marbles:
“Loosing Our Marbles” is a school wide rewards program at Nicholasville Elementary School.  When an adult inside the school gives our class a compliment, our class “looses a marble.”  A jar of thirty marbles is kept in our classroom and when all thirty marbles have been taken out of the jar, our classroom receives a reward that will be voted on by the class such as pajama day, hat day, or a small celebration.  Classes also compete to see who can “loose their marbles” first.
