Snow Day Plan

SNOW DAY PLAN: 

BELOW IS A COPY FOR ART SHOULD THERE BE A SNOW DAY. PLEASE SELECT ONLY 1 ACTIVITY PER SNOW DAY AND RETURN ALL WORK TO YOUR TEACHER WITH YOUR OTHER SNOW DAY WORK. 

Art “Snow Day” Packet:

1. Websites:

Go to the following website http://artforkidshub.com

            -pick one “how to draw video”

            -Using a piece of paper and pencil watch the video and draw along

            -If you have coloring materials, use them!

            -Turn your drawing in with you other snow day packet.

Go to the following website http://origami-instructions.com/simple-origami.html

            -you will need a square piece of paper

            -select one origami project and follow picture or video instructions

            -return to with your school packet

 

2. IPAD:

NGA Kids: download the free app and select an activity and describe the activity in 2 or more sentences.

 

3. Drawing Prompts:

-Illustrate the following poem

Snowball: Shel Silverstien

I made myself a snowball

As perfect as could be.

I thought I’d keep it as a pet

And let it sleep with me.

I made it some pajamas

And a pillow for its head.

Then last night it ran away,

But first it wet the bed.

-Create a Self Portrait

            Using a mirror, pencil and paper draw a self portrait.

            -Remember to pay attention to the shape of your eyes, nose, mouth, ears, hair

            -Draw yourself to exactly as you see it, use observations not your memory.

            -Add value and details.

-Your room

            -Draw your room exactly the way it looks, pay attention to details

            -Now draw your “dream” room. Be as creative as possible

-Your hands and feet

-Trace your hand or foot and then design a holiday or winter glove or sock

-Use at least 3 different patterns (making patterns close together)

-Be sure to fill entire image.

 

4. Writing Prompt:

Find your favorite picture book or an illustration in a book:

            -Identify the title and author

            -Explain why you like it

            -List the elements or art or principles of design that you see in the artwork 

 

5. Complete any of the following drawing activities listed below. (Click on the link and it will take you directly to the page)

             -create an animal

             -self portrait

             -create your own snowman

             -create an imaginary tree
