This is my tenth year teaching Special Education at Nicholasville Elementary School. I truly enjoy my job and love getting to work with the children and the staff of NES. Currently I am working with both second and third grade. I teach small reading groups, reteach lessons students struggle with and collaborate with four wonderful teachers at the Nicholasville Elementary Primary Center. I also have an assistant that I have had the joy of working with for the past five years and her name is Teresa Wise. She is a major support to all of my classrooms and is wonderful with the children.
I attended the University of Kentucky where I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. After graduating, I began working in a daycare center and substituting in Jessamine County. Through subbing, I ended up with a great opportunity to work as a long term sub in special education at Nicholasville Elementary. That school year I was hired as a special education teacher and I started attending Asbury University. There I earned my Master's Degree and my Rank 1 in special education. I have only taught at Nicholasville Elementary and can't imagine working any where else (I also was a student at Nicholasville Elementary from around 1980 to 1985).
I have lived in Nicholasville since I was three years old. I currently live here with my husband Lloyd, daughter Lily and our dog Theo. Lily attends school at the Nicholasville Elementary Primary Center and is currently in second grade. I love getting to watch my daughter learn at a wonderful school and also seeing her in all of her extracurricular activities like dance, riding horses, and playing softball. Another passion of mine is taking pictures; whether I am taking pictures of Lily or someone/something else, I love to capture the moment we are in to help the memories last a lifetime.
