Second Grade!  Wow!

Welcome to our class website!  I am so thankful that you are part of our classroom family this year!

 Just Some Information about Me:

Grade Level/Subject taught:  1st, 5th, and now 2nd!

Favorite subject in school:  Reading/Writing

Favorite children's book:  "You are Special" by Max Lucado

Family information:  My family consists of my husband of 21 years, Pacer; and our children,  Emily, who is 18 and attending the University of the Cumberlands this fall; and Caleb, who is 16 and a junior at EJHS.  We also have a dog, named Daisy, and two cats, Socks and Penelope, all of whom are completely spoiled.  Recently, their Grandma and my sweet mother-in-love relocated from Colorado and moved in with us, as well, bringing along her dog, Buttercup.  We have a full family, but we have a lot of fun and a lot of love.  I wouldn't want it any other way.

I also have extended family in Nicholasville, as it is my hometown. My parents are Wayne and Linda Becknell, both from Nicholasville, and my brother is Kevin Becknell.  He and his wife, Marsha, have four children and also live in Nicholasville. Additionally, I  have uncles, aunt, and cousins, who are all within a mile or two from my house, and I love being so close to them.  They are all very dear to me!  If you are from Nicholasville, you probably know at least one member of my family.  Even if you aren't, I hope you feel that you know me better by the end of this year.

I attend church at Cornerstone Baptist in Nicholasville, and I love my church family, as well.

Fun Fact:  I mentioned that I am from Jessamine County, but I was also a Warner Wildcat myself (back when Warner was next door).  Somewhere my mom still has a picture of me in my Warner Wildcat t-shirt.   Except for my years at Cumberland, I have lived in Nicholasville all of my life.

Another random fun fact that not many people know is that I had a short story published several years ago.  I have always enjoyed writing, and I took a class on Children's Literature after getting my bachelor's degree.  The professor suggested that I publish it, so I sent it to several magazines.  A magazine for young girls offered to publish it, and I made $25.00 from it.  (I still have the check,  as I was more excited about getting my story and picture in a magazine that I was about the $25.00.  My mom still has a copy of the magazine, but I have no idea what I did with my copy.)  =)  Still, I like to joke that I am a published writer.  Although that is definitely not my calling.   I will stick with teaching, which is my passion.  I love what I do!  And I love who I get to do it with at our wonderful little school.

I love teaching, and I especially love teaching at Warner!  I work with some amazing colleagues, and, at Warner, everything is about our students--all day, every day.  I am very blessed to be a small part of an absolutely incredible school.  We want our kids to be successful in reading, writing, and math, but we also want them to be successful in life.  It's a great place to be!   There truly is no place like Warner!  smiley
