Parents:  If your child did not attend school on Monday, March 2nd, YOU MUST STILL SEND IN A NOTE. If no note is received it will count as an unexcused absence. :(

A Message from Superintendent Fields

A message from Superintendent Kathy Fields:
Jessamine County Schools, Nicholasville Police and the FBI continue to investigate the threat made against the students and staff of EJHS.  While safety protocols are followed daily, additional measures will be in place until this matter is resolved.

I am incredibly grateful to students, parents, staff, community members, and law enforcement officers who rallied around our district today in support.  We are a strong community.

Tomorrow, all buildings will be operating on schedule as planned and learning will continue to take place.

Our juniors will be demonstrating their best as they take the ACT.  "Count Me In Week" activities will continue.

As superintendent of schools, I promise that the person or persons responsible for this disservice to students, inconvenience to parents, and disrespect to our staff will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

KET Young Writers Contest

This is the KET Young Writers Contest that I would love for our students to enter. The contest takes the form of an illustrated story for children in K-3rd and a short story for 4th-5th. Illustrated stories must be mailed or hand-delivered to KET (I’m glad to hand-deliver) before April 11th and the short stories must be typed and submitted online. Short story entry forms must be mailed or hand-delivered separately (I’ll do that too). Winners will be selected at each grade level and prizes will be awarded. Winning entries will be published on the KET website and submitted to the PBS Kids’ national writing contest. Rules, entry forms and rubrics are available at  ~ Mrs. McGuire

Dream Out Loud Challenge

Students in grades K-6 can submit an original drawing, video, poem or essay by March 25 (postmarked by March 20) to have a chance to win a $1500 college savings account AND $1500 for our school! Their entries must answer the question: How will I change the world after college? Entries can also be submitted online at Rules are available at the same link, and there are several copies in the office. I really think this is a worthwhile endeavor that many of our students have the potential of winning.
