Awards Days

Senior awards will be given out at a senior awards breakfast on Thursday, May 29th at 8 AM at WJHS.  Underclassmen awards will be given out at an underclassmen awards breakfast on Friday, May 30th at 8 AM.

Free Practice ACT

The Jessamine County Public Library is providing a free practice ACT on April 26th, at 9am.

Pre-Admin for all AP testers

If you are taking an AP test, you MUST attend the pre-administration meeting or you will NOT be able to take the AP test.  The dates are April 22nd at 1:30 for 10th and 12th graders and April 23rd at 9:00 for 11th graders.  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. McMillen.

Prom is May 3rd

Prom is May 3rd from 8pm-midnight at The Barrel House in Lexington.  Tickets are $30 a person.  Tickets will go on sale starting April 28th.  Any fees owed to the school must be paid before a prom ticket can be bought.

Mr. Haughton Represents WJHS

Congratulations to Mr. Haughton who was chosen to participate in the Bread of Life Teacher Network graduate program at Middlebury College this summer.  He was one of only 2 teachers chosen.  Great job, Mr. Haughton!

Last Day of School/High School Graduations


The last day of school will be Friday, June 6, which will be an Early Release Day. East and West High Graduation ceremonies will be held at Southland Christian Church (Harrodsburg Road Campus) that evening. West High will be at 4pm and East High at 8pm. TPS High School graduation will be Thursday, June 5 at 7pm at Wilmore Free Methodist Church.

This year, Project Graduation is at WJHS. See more in this article about Project Graduation.  The next meeting is Tuesday, April 15th at 6:00 in the WJHS cafeteria.

Early Release Days to become FULL INSTRUCTIONAL DAYS

The remaining Early Release Day in Jessamine County (Apr 23) will be a FULL INSTRUCTIONAL day. 

Youth Salute Honors 22 Jessamine County Students

The Central Kentucky Council on Youth Leadership selected 692 high-school juniors from 45 central-Kentucky high schools in the 2012-2013 school year to be honored in the 33rd annual “Youth Salute.” Twenty-two students from Jessamine County were honored, eight from East Jessamine High School and 14 from West Jessamine High School. Students were nominated by teachers, guidance counselors or principals and must have had a 3.0 or better GPA and at least two leadership roles within the last two years. Holifield Photography in Lexington photographed each student and created displays that are hosted in communities and at high schools.

Beth Smith will be signing to play soccer at Georgetown College on April 18th after school in the library.  Congratulations, Beth!

Our tennis teams are starting off the year strong.  The boys' team won first place at the Berea Invitational.  Logan Sparks won the #1 singles division, Isaac Horne won the #2 singles division, and Sumner Blue and Nick Kulaga won the #2 doubles division.  The girls' team placed 2nd at the Berea Invitational.  See more here from the Jessamine Journal about a recent boys' match.  Good luck, Colts!

Congratulations to Monica Alden, Nicole Fielder, Emerson James, Shawn Murphy, and Jesse Seales for being selected to the 2014 Governor's Scholars Program!  Way to go, Colts!

UK healthcare is looking for any student ages 14-17 who is interested in volunteering at the hospital this summer.  Teen interviews will begin March 31 and continue through early May.  Call (859)323-6023 or email to set up an interview.

West High hosted their first annual DanceBlue marathon to raise money for pediatric-cancer research.  As a group, WJHS students raised over $3,500!  Great job, Colts!  See more here from the Jessamine Journal.

Seniors, we want your name on our "I Got In" board.  When you have been accepted to the college you will be attending, please stop by guidance to let them know!

Driver's Testing times and dates are controlled by the Kentucky State Police.  Effective January 9th written tests are given from 8:30-11:15 Mondays and Fridays only.  Appointments are taken for drivers.  Test by calling them on Mondays or Fridays from 8:00-10:00 at (859)887-1713.

SBDM school year meetings are usually the first Monday of the month at 4:15 in the Principal's office. May 5th is the next meeting at 4:15.
