WJHS ACT scores are 9th best in the State!

West High is pleased to announce that based upon last year’s ACT score composite, we are now ranked 9th in the entire state for overall ACT scores.  Congratulations to our teachers and students for their consistent hard work and continued academic improvement as measured on the ACT!  Go West!

WJHS is Distinguished Again

On behalf of our entire West High community, we are thrilled to be designated as a KPREP “Distinguished” school for the second straight year!  Earning this designation two years in a row is unprecedented for our school and speaks volumes about the dedication of our teachers and students in achieving academic excellence.  We look forward to continued growth in the future and to sustaining the instructional momentum that makes West High the best high school in Kentucky.  Go West! - Dr. Wells, Principal

Early Release/Conference Day

The Early Release/Conference Day is scheduled for Wednesday, October 29 from 1pm-4pm.  Please call or email the teachers directly if you wish to set up a time to meet with them.

Picture Retakes

Seniors will have their picture retakes on Monday, October 27th.
All other students will have their picture retakes on Thursday, November 6th.

The registration deadline without a late fee is Sept 19.
To still take the test on Oct 25, sign up with late fee by Oct 3.

Athletics

Great job to our boy's golf team that won their 7th consecutive regional title and to our boys cross country team that reclaimed their 2nd regional in a row!

East and West High Archery Tryouts will be held starting Monday, October 6th and will be each day thru Thursday, October 9th. 
Location: Providence Activity Center on Computrex Drive (this is off Catnip Hill)
All new comers should be there ready to start at 5 pm. 
Tryouts will last at least til 6 pm.
You MUST have a current physical in order to try out.
All returning archers (those that were on the high school teams last year) must come on Both Tuesday and Thursday from 6-7 pm.
These are the only try-out dates. You must come to try outs to be considered for the team.

As of 9/18 TopDrawerSoccer.com ranks West Jessamine girls soccer as the No. 1 team in KY, No. 5 team in the Midwest and No. 30 team in the nation.

Our Girls Soccer team had their annual "Pink" game.  A wonderful tribute was painted on the field.

If you are interested in applying for a Congressional nomination to one of the United States Military Academies, please see Ms. Heady in the guidance office.  Applications are due by October 31,2014.  Academy days will be held by local congressmen to meet representatives from each institution on Sunday, September 13, 2014 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Aviation Museum of Kentucky located at the Blue Grass Airport in Lexington.  This is your chance find out about the involvement and commitment required for each Academy, as well as ask questions about the application process.  Again, see Ms. Heady in the guidance office if you are a junior or senior interested in this opportunity. 

Driver's Testing times and dates are controlled by the Kentucky State Police.  Effective January 9th written tests are given from 8:30-11:15 Mondays and Fridays only.  Appointments are taken for drivers.  Test by calling them on Mondays or Fridays from 8:00-10:00 at (859)887-1713.
