West Jessamine Middle School uses the national middle school philosophy to provide students with the best education possible. Students are grouped into teams at each grade level. Teachers have common team and core content planning which provides collaboration between teachers at each grade. The faculty provides appropriate classes for all students in math, language arts, science and social studies through a variety of educational settings, including regular, accelerated, collaborative and resource classes. Reading classes are provided for all ability levels at each grade. Content literacy strategies are used in each subject area to help students be successful. Students also have a variety of arts and elective classes which include: music, art, French, Spanish, foreign language exploratory, family and consumer science, life skills, physical education, pre-agriculture, health, band, chorus and orchestra. WJMS is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
