Hi,

My name is Ms. Wooten. I started here at West as an Instructional Assistant in the PACT/PASS program in 2015. I completed my Special Education Master's degree in 2018 and have been teaching in the Social Studies department first at EJMS and now here at WJHS. I love to help students who struggle with learning and/or attention issues be successful. I have had my own struggles with learning/attention and love the Special Education & Social Studies department and our missions. I believe every person can learn and make a positive contribution to our world.

I try to be intentional about staying positive, working hard, being thankful, trying to have an other centered perspective, having a sense of humor, laughing at myself, being a life long learner, being flexible, not giving up, encouraging others & myself.

Some of my heroes: Jesus, Corrie ten Boom (check out the book The Hiding Place for her story), Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Kate Dicamilo, Kim Meeder, Dr. James Naismith (invented basketball), Rudy and many more...

Favorite Movie: The greatest sports movie of all time, Rudy. It is based on a true story of a Notre Dame walk-on who struggled with the learning disability, Dyslexia. Check it out or watch again if you want to. It will make you smile, cheer and want to not give up. Here is a clip to get you fired up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rB0k21sGT_A&t=23s
