At the September 27, 2021 meeting of the Jessamine County Board of Education, the board voted to approve a calendar revision to change Tuesday, November 2, 2021 to a staff work day with no students in attendance.
This change was necessary due to an unanticipated special election that has been scheduled for November 2, 2021 to fill Senator Tom Buford’s seat following his passing earlier this year. Three of our schools are utilized as polling places and in order to provide this service to our community, there will be no school for students on Tuesday, November 2nd. Students will not be required to make up this day as we currently have enough time built into the calendar to meet state requirements. While students will not be in attendance, JCS staff will be on our campuses, utilizing this additional time to develop and prepare plans to meet our students' needs. As a reminder, Monday, November 1st was already included in the 2021-2022 calendar as a parent conference day and students will be out of school that day as well. See the updated calendar here.
