The 40 Book Challenge FAQ’s

  1. What if I don’t make it to 40 Books?

That’s okay! We are going to celebrate reading all year long!

You might read 10 books (wow!) or you might read 50 books (wow!).

  1. I’m not an independent reader and someone reads a book to me nightly. I’m going to finish the challenge in 40 days! Is this okay?

Yes, this is okay, but try and challenge yourself! Instead of reading a picture book or two each night try reading through a chapter book as a family by reading a chapter or two each night (I would be happy to recommend some).

  1. I prefer one genre of book. Do I have to read different genres?

No, but it is a challenge so this might be a good time to try

something new!

  1. When/Where do I log the books I’ve read?

You will go to your LIBRARY google classroom (Google Classroom is on your Clever page) and on the left under “Quick Links” click on the “40 Book Challenge Tracker/Log” link and fill out the Google Form every time you finish a book. Make sure you fill out the Google Form for every book you read! In order to be invited to the celebration you have to log your books on the Google Form by the due dates. That means you should try to pace yourself and read 10 books per due date. You will need at least ten books recorded on the log in order to attend the first reading celebration, twenty books total for the second, thirty books total for the third and 40 books total for the fourth. The goal is 40 books by the end of the year, but you might read more or less than that. Try to pace yourself and read 10 books by each due date. 🙂

  1. Do I have to read books that are on a certain level?

The goal is that you independently read 40 books that are just

right for you! It’s okay to read an “easy” book every now and

then and it’s also good to challenge yourself with something a

a little harder sometimes. But in general, try to read books that

are a perfect fit for you.
