Change Challenge Penny Drive: Kickoff on Monday, October 13th

Jessamine Cares is a student-led initiative that started in the Spring of 2025. Lisa Preston’s 3rd grade class at Rosenwald Dunbar Elementary School got very excited about the learning they were doing in the classroom and decided to make an impact. These students have been on fire ever since. They took their ideas for orphan care in Malawi to their families, their friends, the county government, and the school board. They have partnered with Circle of Hope International to support the latter's Orphan Care Program in Malawi, Africa. The collaboration aims to raise awareness and funds to provide housing, food, education, and emotional support for children in Malawi who have lost one or both parents.

Student-Led Initiative: It is a program driven by the students of Jessamine County Schools.

Partnership with Circle of Hope: The group collaborates with Circle of Hope International, a non-profit based in Wilmore, KY.

Focus on Orphan Care: The program's specific goal is to help vulnerable children in Malawi by providing essential needs and support. With the money we raise, we can pay for all of this:
- Feed 800 vulnerable children for a year.
- Build an Education and Support Center for these children.
- Purchase livestock to help feed the children beyond the first year.

Wilmore Elementary Change Challenges is the Week of October 13th

We will deliver a "Change Challenge" box to your classroom. The Student Advisory Council Members will come by each day to pick up your change boxes and then count the amount collected each day. We will report the progress toward the JCS goal each morning for the week of October 13th.
