A New Chapter for the EJMS Jaguars: Jenny Borders Named Head Principal

The Jessamine County School district is pleased to announce that Jenny Borders has been named the next Head Principal of East Jessamine Middle School! While she is already a familiar face in our hallways, we are incredibly excited for the leadership, passion, and vision she will bring to this new role.

A Deep-Rooted Commitment to EJMS

As current EJMS Principal Andrew Pickerill transitions to a district-level position, Mrs. Borders continues a journey with the Jaguar family that began six years ago. Her career at EJMS has been defined by versatility and excellence, having served as:

  • Math Teacher

  • Instructional Coach

  • Assistant Principal

Originally from Lexington, Mrs. Borders is a proud graduate of Western Kentucky University, holding a Bachelor's Degree in Middle Grades Education, a Master of Arts in Instructional Leadership, and a Rank 1 in Supervisor of Instruction.

Beyond the Classroom

When she isn't cheering on our students, Mrs. Borders is likely cheering on her own five children—Ella (19), Spencer (17), Kate (17), Josiah (15), and Ben (12)—alongside her husband, Stuart. A lover of the outdoors and a good book, you’ll often find her running or attending her kids' various activities.

A Vision for Growth

Mrs. Borders steps into this role with a deep appreciation for the work already being done at EJMS and a clear mission for the future. Regarding her selection, she shared:

"I am so humbled and grateful to have been selected to lead East Jessamine Middle School — a school that has been my professional home and my heart for years. The growth our students and staff have achieved is no accident; it is the result of intentional, dedicated work by an incredible team. My commitment is to honor that foundation while continuing to move us forward. The grass is green on our side, and it's because we intentionally water it."

Please join us in celebrating Principal Borders as she steps into this new leadership role, continuing her dedicated service to the students, staff, and families of East Jessamine Middle School!
