True leadership often starts with a quiet commitment to doing the right thing for those around you.
Jocelyn is a fantastic example of a Connected Citizen here at East Jessamine because she consistently tackles every challenge with grit while lifting her peers up. Her teachers admire the way she balances her hard work with a deep, genuine respect for everyone in the building. By choosing integrity every day, she sets a powerful example that makes our school family a stronger and kinder place for all. We are so proud of you, Jocelyn, and we can’t wait to see you continue to shine as a Jaguar!

From the moment you walk into her classroom, Ms. Howard creates a warm and welcoming environment where students feel comfortable and supported. Let's hear what other Jaguars have to say about Ms. Howard!

"One of my favorite things about Ms. Howard is she's always there for me even though she's not my teacher anymore." -EJHS Student

"Ms. Howard is able to spread light to every individual that she interacts with in our building, whether they be a student, teacher, administrator, or even just a visitor! She is friendly and warm in a way that immediately makes students comfortable in her classroom, all while maintaining an environment of rigor and a passion for learning. She is able to make every lesson a fun, engaging activity that not only allows students to grasp the concept, but that supports a drive to learn more about the subject. She makes both school and the learning that takes place a fun, positive experience, and I am so thankful she is in our building!" -EJHS Colleague

Today we are celebrating Coach Lawson! He continues to hit it out of the park on a daily basis for our Jaguars! Let's see what others have to share about Coach Lawson.

"Mr. Lawson is my favorite teacher because in class he knows how to cut up, laugh, make jokes, and he's overall just a positive teacher, better than many teachers I've had. " -EJHS Student

"It’s rare to find someone who pours as much heart into their work as they do into the people around them. Whether he’s in the classroom, on the field, or in the hallway, Chris Lawson defines what it means to be truly dedicated. He leads with kindness, proving that empathy is the most powerful connector. He doesn't just teach or coach; he invests in lives. I appreciate his empathy and his uncanny ability to always have the right word at the right time; he goes the extra mile—not because it’s required, but because he genuinely cares. To his students, he is a steady role model; to his colleagues, a selfless teammate; and to everyone who knows him, a reminder of the impact one thoughtful person can have on the trajectory of another's life." -EJHS Educator

We’re thrilled to welcome Blake Combs as the new Athletic Director at East Jessamine High School. After 20 years in sunny Florida, Blake and his crew are trading palm trees for horse farms, flip-flops for boots, and beaches for bluegrass. They are back in Kentucky and ready to dive into life as Jaguars together as a family. Originally from Pikeville, Blake graduated from Pike Central High School in 2001 where he played baseball. He earned a degree in Sport Management from Morehead State University, which led to an internship at Roger Dean Stadium, home of the Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals spring training. He learned the ins and outs of professional baseball and maybe how to dodge a few foul balls along the way. For the past 15 years, Blake has been shaping student-athletes as a PE teacher and Athletic Director in the Palm Beach County and St. Lucie County School Districts. Most recently, he spent seven years leading athletics at St. Lucie West Centennial High School, one of Florida’s largest high schools with more than 3,000 students and over 550 athletes. He also earned a Master’s Degree in Sport Administration from Arkansas State University in 2023. Blake’s biggest team, however, is at home. His wife Brandi, originally from Lexington, played soccer at Georgetown College. Together they have three kids, Harper, Bowen, and Palmer, who are already planning their first Jaguar touchdown and keeping life lively, loud, and full of love. Please join us in giving the Combs family a warm welcome to East.

Today, we’re celebrating a teacher who goes above and beyond for their students every day! Mr. Davisson is one-of-a-kind. Let's see what our Jags have to share about him.

"Shout out to Matt for always going above and beyond for his students, both in and out of the classroom! He brings a unique perspective to discussions, checks in proactively, asks thoughtful questions, and seeks feedback to make sure we’re supporting our students’ mental health as much as their academic growth. I always enjoy getting to listen to his insights!" -EJHS Colleague

"Mr. Davisson is a really great Future Problem Solving coach for our Academic Team and has structured it really well. We received 2nd place because of the advice he provided us!"

🐾 Hey Jaguars! 🐾

The SAT is coming up on March 10th, and we know the pressure can feel real. If those pre-test jitters are kicking in, remember that you’ve got the tools to stay calm and crush it!
Here’s your EJHS Game Plan to beat test anxiety:
-Prep Early: Consistency is key! Don't wait until the 9th to start reviewing.
-Catch Those Z’s: Aim for 7–9 hours of sleep. A rested brain is a sharp brain.
-Breathe Through It: Feeling stuck during a section? Take a 5-second deep breath to reset.
-Flip the Script: Replace "I can't" with "I'm prepared." You’ve been working hard for this!

You’ve got this! 💙✨
