Kentucky Safe Schools Week may be wrapping up, but safety is always in session at East Jessamine! Today, we focused on the drills that keep our Jaguars prepared for anything, from fire and lockdowns to earthquakes and severe weather. Practicing together helps our students move quickly, stay calm, and look out for one another. Every drill is a reminder that safety is a team effort, and our school community is ready for whatever comes our way.

Such a great opportunity to support our dance team!

Kentucky Safe Schools Week is a reminder that safety isn’t just physical, it’s mental and emotional too. Having Kyle, our mental health counselor, on the team helps ensure that Jaguars have a trusted resource to turn to when life feels heavy. Mental safety means knowing you are supported, valued, and never alone, and that’s an important part of keeping our school community strong.

Today, we’re highlighting one of our key safety practices: keeping all exterior and interior classroom doors locked at all times. This simple step plays a big role in creating a safe and secure learning environment for our students. We’re proud of our school community and grateful to our faculty and staff for taking the little steps—like locking doors—that make a BIG difference.

High school can be tough, but we're tougher when we stick together. This Suicide Prevention Month, let's make a pact to be there for each other. Notice if a friend seems a little more distant than usual, or isn't acting like themselves. A simple "Hey, are you okay?" can open the door for a much-needed conversation. Let's show up for each other, Jags! #MentalHealthMatters #EJHS #ItsOkayToTalk

Seniors! Who's ready for another sunrise?
