Due to the winter weather advisory and the forecasted snow, Friday, December 12 will be a snow day in Jessamine County. We are thankful to have one day built into our calendar that we can use without it being NTI or requiring a make up day, and that will be tomorrow. We hope you enjoy the snow, stay safe, and stay warm! ❄️💙

In your PJs, at the kitchen table, snuggled up with a pet, or bundled in a blanket fort, we’d love to see! Stay cozy and keep learning! ❄️💻✨

NTI Day #3
At school, we spend a lot of time learning about the Zones of Regulation.
We have four zones that help us identify how our bodies are feeling. We talk about how our bodies feel, what tools we might need, and ways to make our problems smaller. Our goal is always to get back to the Green Zone. 🌟

Green Zone: Calm, relaxed, and ready to learn 💚

Blue Zone: Sad, tired, or moving slowly 💙

Yellow Zone: Excited, nervous, silly, or a little out of control 💛

Red Zone: Angry, tense, or completely out of control ❤️

It’s okay to feel in different zones, but it’s important that we use our tools to get our bodies back to the Green Zone. ✅ Some tools we use include counting to 10 ✋, taking deep breaths 🌬️, drinking water 💧, washing our hands 🧼, spending a few minutes in the cozy cube 🛋️, or asking a teacher for help 🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️.

Learning about our zones helps students recognize their feelings and practice ways to stay calm and ready to learn!

As our Kindergarten students continue learning letters and sounds each day, they are discovering the joy of decoding and reading words!

Students in Mrs. Baxter's class are having a blast playing a game of Stomp and Spell. They were so excited about their new skills that they even asked to play during indoor recess. Way to stretch those brains and celebrate learning! 📝✨

We are so proud to celebrate one of our kindergarten students in Mrs. Steven’s class as one of our Students of the Month for communication. This student shines every day by sharing ideas, listening with care, and using their voice to grow and connect with others. We are so proud of this accomplishment and the joy this student brings to our school family!

🌟 September Focus at JELV: Try your Best- Work Ethic! 🌟

At The Village, we follow our 5 STEPS to Success to help us stay safe, grow, and have fun while at school. Each STEP is connected to one of our Graduate Profile attributes, which guide us in becoming our very best selves.

For the month of September, we’re focusing on the STEP: Trying Our Best!
This connects to the Work Ethic badge from our Graduate Profile.

Throughout the month, we’ll be encouraging our learners to:
Show a growth mindset (keep trying, even when it’s tricky!)
Stick with it through challenges
Celebrate the value of hard work

We can’t wait to recognize students who are Trying Their Best this month and showcasing their Work Ethic!

JELV is taking nominations for parents to serve on our School Based Decision Making Council. If interested please complete the Parent Nomination Form by 8/5. Voting will occur 8/7-8/8. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Qs6in_STHyM2Y_Qk25ChjHujYALnGVPApuc7SLCTaPI/preview This council meets monthly to make important decisions regarding school policies. The JELV SBDM Council consists of the Principal, three teacher representatives, and two parent representatives. We believe it is also important and vital that our minority populations are represented on the SBDM. So if you represent a minority population and are willing to serve on the SBDM Council we welcome your involvement. All new SBDM Council members will be required to attend an upcoming training at the end of August or beginning of September
