Carter Smith was recognized at the Castle for winning the statewide Conservation District Essay Contest—an incredible honor. His essay focused on wetlands, highlighting the importance of protecting these vital ecosystems.

From what was shared at yesterday’s ceremony, there were many impressive entries from across Kentucky, making this accomplishment even more meaningful. Out of so many strong contributions, Carter rose to the top.

We are extremely proud to have Carter represent WJHS and the Conservation District so well. Congratulations, Carter!

In Ms. Hawley’s Physics class, students are currently studying circuits and the relationship between voltage, current, and resistance.

Yesterday they brought the lesson to life with a Van de Graaff generator, exploring how static electricity can transfer from person to person and learning why you sometimes get shocked when touching a light switch in the winter.

It was definitely a **shocking** lesson! ⚡️(See what we did there?)

Yesterday was a phenomenal day for our JAG students! JAG President Freddy Sanchez and Vice President Jonathan Hammie met with Representative Adam Moore to discuss how JAG (Jobs for America’s Graduates) helps students discover their path after high school. Freddy and Jonathan shared how JAG has impacted their lives and their future plans. Proud of them for representing our program so well and of Mr. Tyler who truly makes this curriculum meaningful to our students! 👏

They fought so hard! Down 11 at half and as much as 18, they fought back to take the lead and ultimately fell 60-58 to a solid Taylor County team. We are proud of our Lady Colts! The Colts fought hard, but fell 37-33 to DCA. It was a great run that ended in a Region Runner-up, their best finish since 2020. We are proud of our team! All-Region Tournament team honors for Gavin, Kaden, and Sawyer!
