Kindness doesn’t just begin with how we treat others — it begins with how we treat ourselves.
Yesterday, we focused on self-compassion, mental health, and self-empathy. That means giving yourself the same patience, understanding, and encouragement you would offer a friend. Here are some thoughts from a couple of our WJHS students about what helps them the most in moments they may need a break, support, or encouragement!

Join us for an informational meeting this Friday!

Tomorrow for Kindness Week, we’re “switching it up” in more ways than one — because it’s also Teacher/Student Dress Reversal Day! 👔🎒 Students dress like a teacher/staff and teachers/staff dress like a student. Have fun with it!
But beyond the fun, tomorrow is about serving with kindness. 💙
“Switch It Up” means stepping outside your routine — sit with someone new, help without being asked, write a note of appreciation, or thank someone who doesn’t always get recognized.
“Lift Them Up” means showing gratitude to those closest to you — friends, teachers, family, teammates — while also engaging with and supporting our wider community.
Hold the door.
Send the text.
Say thank you.
Offer a helping hand.
Let’s have fun and remember that the best way to stand out is by lifting others up. 💫

Kindness Week continues tomorrow with True Blue Tuesday! 💙
We’re focusing on self-compassion, mental health, and understanding your own needs (self-empathy). Sometimes kindness starts with how we treat ourselves — take a breath, give yourself grace, and support one another.
Show your support by wearing ALL BLUE tomorrow and help fill the halls with positivity and encouragement!

🏀 GAME DAY 🏀
The Colts hit the road tonight as our boys basketball team travels to Burgin!

It’s MONDAY and we’ve got a BIG week ahead, Colts! 🐎
We have several athletic events coming up, so make plans to come out, be loud, and cheer on our teams as they compete this week. Your support makes a difference!
It’s also KINDNESS WEEK 🩵❤️
Today’s theme: Team Up for Kindness — we can’t wait to see all the jerseys and team shirts in the halls! Whether you’re repping your favorite sport or a Colts team, remember that kindness is always a winning play.

Today we celebrate National School Resource Officer Day and we are so thankful for our very own Officer Wade at WJHS! 💙
Officer Wade does so much more than keep our building safe. He builds relationships, mentors students, supports staff, and is a positive presence in our hallways every single day. Whether he’s greeting students in the morning, helping during events, or stepping in whenever needed, he truly cares about our school community.
Thank you, Officer Wade, for your dedication, kindness, and commitment to WJHS. We appreciate you today and every day! 💙👮♂️

It's a double header tonight as our boys and girls varsity basketball teams take on the Jags at EJHS. Let's show up and show out and be "Rivals with Respect"! Go West!

Happy Kindness Week - today is our first day and we kick off with the theme "Rivals with Respect"!
Competition is part of who we are at West — whether it’s on the field, on the court, or in the classroom. We play hard. We work hard. We push ourselves to be better every single day. Being a rival doesn’t mean being disrespectful. It means showing empathy, understanding that everyone is giving their best, and choosing integrity even in intense moments. That’s what Rivals with Respect is all about. ❤️💪

Rivalry week kicks off tonight! Happy game day!

Kindness Week kicks off tomorrow, Friday, February 13th, and we couldn’t have a better way to begin—just in time for the Cross-Town Rivalry East/West games! ❤️💙
As we head into rivalry games, let’s show that kindness, respect, and connection are strengths—even in competition. Cheering with class, supporting one another, and representing our school with pride is what truly makes us stand out. We are one community! #WEareJCS

Kindness Week kicks off this Friday, February 13th, and we can’t wait to see our school community come together in powerful ways! 💛
Our Focus: EMPATHY – “Walk in Someone Else’s Shoes” 👟
This week is all about slowing down, listening more closely, and truly trying to understand the experiences and feelings of those around us. When we practice empathy, we strengthen our relationships, build trust, and create a school where everyone feels seen and valued.
Each day, we will have a fun theme for everyone to participate in, giving our students and staff meaningful opportunities to practice kindness in action. Throughout the week, we will also recognize kindness in all facets of our lives — in our classrooms, hallways, teams, friendships, families, and community.
Up first - RIVALS WITH RESPECT! Focus on showing that kindness, respect, and connection are strengths—even in competition. #WEareJCS
