Last night at WJHS, it wasn’t just the ceremonial first pitch—it was a celebration of opportunity.
Superintendent Crum led things off for softball, and Board Chair Steven Scrivner took the mound for baseball, helping open a new chapter on our upgraded turf fields. These improvements are about so much more than facilities, they’re about creating spaces where students can compete, grow, and make memories that last a lifetime.
Game on! ❤️

Our JCTC Agriculture students visited classrooms at JELV for Ag Day, bridging the gap between the field and the lunchroom. Through a special story time featuring a favorite superfruit, blueberries, our high schoolers helped our youngest learners discover that food comes from more than just a grocery store shelf.
It’s all about planting seeds of knowledge, hard work, and sunshine! ☀️
A big thank you to these high schoolers for helping to cultivate the next crop of leaders!🚜

Justin has a rare gift: he turns the impossible into the attainable. While Calculus can be a mountain to climb, Mr. Schommer walks every step of the way with his students. He pairs his high standards with an even higher level of heart, ensuring no Jag ever feels left behind. Whether he’s sparking a lightbulb moment with a tough derivative or simply offering a kind word and a laugh, Justin has built a classroom where every student truly belongs.💚
Justin, thank you for showing us that when you lead with care, even the hardest math can become a joy. We are so lucky to have you!🎉

Remember the simple joy of finding a hand-addressed envelope in a mailbox full of "Current Resident" flyers? That spark of excitement, knowing someone truly thought of you? 💌
At East Jessamine High, that feeling filled the air during Letter Day this week. It’s one of our favorite traditions that usually brings a happy tear or two; every single student receives a personal, handwritten letter from a faculty or staff member.✉️
No grades. No due dates. No reminders about practice. Just a heartfelt message letting them know they are seen, valued, and appreciated for exactly who they are.✨
In a world that moves fast, our Jaguars got a chance to slow down and remember: You aren't just a name on a roster. You are the heart of everything we do.💙💚

East Jessamine High School’s Lauren Jones has been named the JCS High School Special Educator of the Year!🏆
A proud EJHS Class of 2004 graduate, Lauren has come full circle and now walks the same halls as an educator, pouring her Jaguar pride into her students every single day. 💙
Her ability to lead with heart, create a caring and supportive environment, and maintain high expectations empowers her students to grow, achieve, and reach their full potential. 🔥
Congratulations, Lauren! Your impact is felt far beyond the classroom, and we are so grateful to have you in the JCS family. 👏

During East Jessamine Middle School’s trip to Washington, D.C. , eighth-graders Nora Pickerill, Grace Heffelbower, Chyler Vittitow, and Mia Campbell had the incredible honor of participating in a historic ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.
With their classmates watching, these students paid tribute to our fallen heroes with remarkable grace and poise—creating a powerful moment that left a lasting impression on the entire 8th grade class. To make the experience even more meaningful, they were able to briefly speak with a Sentinel following the ceremony.
These are the moments that bring learning to life—connecting history to the present and inspiring our students as they look toward the future.✨
A special thank you to Mrs. Harlan and the dedicated parent chaperones for making this once-in-a-lifetime experience possible! #JaguarExcellence #BeyondTheClassroom

But the hardware didn’t stop there—their undeniable energy earned them a Specialty Award for truly standing out from the crowd. 🌟
Huge congratulations to Coach Pinney and this incredible group of dancers. Your grit, hustle, and spirit are what being a Colt is all about!❤️

Madison's classroom is a welcoming space where students feel empowered to take on new challenges, stretch toward their full potential, and master the art of teamwork. It's more than a room; it's a launchpad where students don't just learn, they thrive.🪴
Madison, thank you for your heart, your dedication, and for helping to make WES such a wonderful place to learn. We are so proud to have you in the JCS Family! 🧡

What a week! From historical reenactments to slithery science encounters, our elementary students have been busy exploring, creating, and connecting. ✨
Here’s a look back at the some of what we’ve been up to:
💡Learning by Doing
The best way to learn is to dive right in! This week, our classrooms transformed into hubs of activity:
🖼️Culture & History: Students explored the rich traditions of Native American culture and stepped back in time to experience the Boston Tea Party.
🚀Future Leaders: Our young professionals put on their CEO hats for the Entrepreneur Fair, showing off some serious business savvy!
🐍"Sciencey stuff" was at an all-time high. We took a closer look at our skies and got up close and personal with some scaly friends.
🤝Better Together
Beyond the books, we focused on what matters most: Relationships. Whether it was through family events, school-wide assemblies, or simple classroom gatherings, we were reminded that our district is built on togetherness and community.
What was your student’s favorite this week?

When we se our students earn these amazing opportunities, we see our Graduate Profile in action. Kyla is the perfect example of Work Ethic personified. In this case, hard work literally paid off!🙌
We are so incredibly proud of you, Kyla. We can’t wait to see you shine at Transy! ❤️

We are incredibly proud of these innovators for bringing the trophy home. Way to go!✨

Elizabeth does so much more than teach; she builds a community. Her classroom is a true second home where every student feels a deep sense of belonging and the support they need to soar. 💖
But her impact doesn’t stop at the classroom door. Elizabeth has a heart for the whole family, building meaningful bridges between home and school. 🏠 Plus, her team-first spirit makes her a constant source of encouragement for her fellow educators! 🤝
Elizabeth, thank you for your passion, your kindness, and for being such a bright light in our Warner Family. We are so lucky to have you in JCS! 🌟
