Our creative Eagles in Miss Ludt’s class just wrapped up Unit 1 of CKLA with an egg-cellent project! To finish out the unit, students put their imaginative thinking and writing skills to the test by creating the ultimate disguises for Mr. Toad—and then writing persuasive opinion pieces to prove why their disguise was hands-down the best way to keep him hidden! 🐸✨
From clever camouflage to total transformations, these young writers showed off their critical thinking and strong communication skills!

At RDES, our culture is rooted in high expectations, intentional learning, and supporting every single Eagle on their unique pathway to success!
We are sharing our Kentucky State Assessment (KSA) results for the 2025–2026 school year. This year, Rosenwald Dunbar Elementary School achieved an overall Yellow Rating, with 54% Proficiency in Reading and 50% Proficiency in Math.
Our teachers and students work tirelessly every day to stretch higher, tackle new challenges, and strive for excellence. As we evaluate our growth, it helps to understand how the state's accountability system calculates our overall score. Kentucky rates schools on Status (how well our students performed this year) and Change (how much scores changed from last year). When performance or status is stable from year to year, the school's overall score can still be impacted due to a resulting lower change score.
We remain deeply committed to our Eagle family, lifting each student up to reach their full potential! Thank you to our incredible teachers, staff, families, and community for your continued partnership and dedication.

Our 4th-grade Eagles had an incredible theme day fully focused on the world of surgery! Dressing up as surgeons for the day, our students jumped right into hands-on activities to explore how the human body works.
Our young medical team had an awesome time completing their "character autopsies," transplanting parts of speech, and performing surgery on sentences! They even got to build their very own working pairs of "lungs" to get a real-time, interactive look at respiratory systems in action. 🫁✨
