In the spring we celebrated Layne's perfect score of 36 on the ACT. Today we learned he was one of only 62 students in the state to gain that accomplishment. Way to go Layne!!

The West Work Ethic continues throughout October. So many amazing things go on in our building, but our students continue to exhibit strong work habits and diligence in the tasks set before them in their JCTC courses as well!
Pictured below are students in the Fashion Pathway at JCTC. Students from WJHS worked on pillowcase sewing projects in FCS Essentials and tote bag sewing projects in Fashion & Interior Design I. They showed true attention to detail and the ability to get the job done to generate a finished product!
Additionally, Dr. Ruda would like to acknowledge work ethic as our first Exceptional Employer Evaluations have been received! Though evals are still rolling in, we wanted to start early with the celebrations! Congrats to all!

Thank you to our West High custodial staff for their continued work to make our school great. We celebrated them today with some goodies, notes from our students, and an accessory for one of their most important tools of the trade, their keys! Thank you to our crew!

Happy Custodian Appreciation Day!
Today, we want to take a moment to celebrate our amazing custodial staff at West High! Your hard work and dedication keep our school clean, safe, and welcoming every day. From early mornings to late evenings, you ensure our learning environment is the best it can be! Our building is beautiful, our grounds are well-kept, and we couldn't be more proud. It takes a great deal of effort, commitment, and hard work to do what you do and we are so thankful to have you at WJHS!
Thank you for all the behind-the-scenes magic you create—your efforts do not go unnoticed!

*APPLY FOR THE FAFSA EARLY*
KHEAA has been selected to participate in FAFSA Beta Testing on 10/16 and 10/17. This allows an opportunity for your students to come to the KHEAA Office in Frankfort and complete their FAFSA early (before it opens to the general public in December). This will allow the student to get in line for need-based aid, as well as give us a chance to provide direct feedback to Federal Student Aid in hopes of helping make the next FAFSA cycle easier for everyone.
I’ve attached the steps for students/families interested in participating. Please note, students & families interested in this opportunity must attend this event **IN PERSON**, as specialists will be on hand to assist.
Appointment times are available for October 16th from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 pm, and from 1:00-5:00 pm on October 17th. Procedures can be found in the image below or at this link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yieA4xQyC3cVnkeIw2Y-YBWegrx-QsIm/view?usp=sharing
