Our Colts have so many reasons to be thankful! 🤎💛🧡Sources of Strength peer leaders invited students to create a "hand turkey" and write what they were thankful for on the "feathers". Check it out!

Thank you Cliff, driver of bus 485. He is moving out of state and wanted to bring lunch to his West High students.

We're one week out from Thanksgiving! Today, we're highlighting one of our favorite community outreach events of the year.
68 Years Strong! Our annual Jessamine County FFA Thanksgiving Food Drive is on schedule to help approximately 96 families in our district this year. Students are actively engaged in the planning process from contacting West Rock for boxes to package the food in, picking items up, coordinating drop off and pick up of items at other schools, packaging boxes for delivery and donating their time and energy to deliver food to families the week of Thanksgiving. This year, every box will directly impact a student's family who is enrolled Jessamine County Schools as we have shifted our focus solely to serving other students in the district. Through the support of community members, other schools in the district, local businesses, Family Youth Resource Centers, students and teachers, we can continue to provide for Jessamine County students!

🤝 WJHS FCA students are making a difference in our community! Recently, they volunteered to pack meals at the Jessamine County Food Pantry for those in need. Their demonstration of service and compassion is a true indicator of connected citizenship, our graduate profile attribute for November. Together, we can make a positive impact on the world!

Heads up! It's a Home Team Showcase for our girls basketball team this Saturday, November 23rd! Coverage will be provided by Fox 56 news and tip-off will be at 1:05pm against George Rogers Clark! Tune in and Go Colts!

English students attended "As You Like It" by William Shakespeare, directed by Dr. Christina Ritter at UK last Friday. Seating was on stage and required audience participation! Some WJHS Alumni (now freshmen in college) even stopped by to see Mrs. Grogan, Mrs. Onkst, and Mrs. Wallington at lunch! Experiences like these are what give life to the learning taking place inside our classrooms!

Congrats to our West High dance team on the conclusion of their competition season. The ladies increased their overall score by nearly 15 points and finished in the top 10 in both Pom and Hip Hop!

Wishing our WJHS dance team good luck this Sunday at competition! Go Colts!

"The mission of Sources of Strength is to prevent adverse outcomes by increasing wellbeing, help-seeking, resiliency, healthy coping, and belonging." The students in Sources of Strength help bring together peer social networks to create healthy norms and culture. Some of our SOS students met this morning for a quick snapshot in their new t-shirts designed by SOS member, Maya Lourie! We love them! 💙
