It takes a truly compassionate heart to walk alongside students through life’s ups and downs, and we are beyond fortunate to have one of the very best leading the way.
In honor of Kentucky FRYSC Week, we are shining a well-deserved spotlight on Mrs. Emily Andrews. As our Family Resource and Youth Services Coordinator, she is the heartbeat of our school’s support system—working tirelessly behind the scenes to remove barriers to learning and ensure every student feels seen, supported, and ready to thrive.
If Mrs. Andrews has made a positive impact on your child or family, here are a few meaningful ways to say "thank you" this week:
A Hand-Drawn Note: Encourage your child to create a "Thank You" card or a piece of art to brighten her office.
Send a "Warm Virtual Hello": A quick email from a parent/guardian letting her know her hard work is noticed goes a long way.
The Hallway Shout-Out: If your student sees her at school, a cheerful "Happy FRYSC Week, Mrs. Andrews!" is a great way to start her day.
A "Resource" Reflection: If she’s helped connect your family with specific resources or support, a brief note mentioning how much that meant to you is a wonderful tribute to her work.
Comment on Facebook: Post a quick thank you on our RDES Facebook page.
Let’s come together to make sure Mrs. Andrews feels the immense gratitude she deserves from our entire school family!

History in the Making! ☕️🌊
Our 5th-grade historians are taking a deep dive into the American Revolution—literally! Combining Social Studies with STEM, students are being challenged to recreate the Boston Tea Party with a high-stakes twist.
Given only a tea bag, a strict budget, and a variety of materials, these young engineers must design and build protective crates. The goal? Their crate has to float and, most importantly, the tea has to stay bone-dry even when submerged!
We are so proud of how our students are embracing this challenge, using critical thinking and perseverance to solve real-world problems. Congratulations to our successful "Sons and Daughters of Liberty" whose tea survived the harbor!
