Reading, reasoning, and a little bit of mystery! 📚✨
Our 1st and 2nd grade students recently dived into the story of The Quacken. After enjoying the tale, these young learners put their critical thinking skills to work by correctly sequencing the story's events.
At JCS, we believe excellence is achieved when every student is engaged on an individual level. Seeing our students grow into effective communicators as they share their knowledge of the story is what the JCS experience is all about!

Shout out to Whitman for exemplifying what it means to be a Jessamine County Schools student! 🌟
By showing up with grit and a "get it done" attitude, Whitman is living out several key traits of our Graduate Profile:
Work Ethic: Whitman demonstrates perseverance and indicates exactly how to work hard to see real results in his academic performance.

Connected Citizenship: By being a "pleasure to teach," he positively impacts our school community every single day.
Way to go, Whitman! Keep showing that growth mindset! 💪📚

Our 2nd graders are reaching new heights in math! 🚀 Last week, these young mathematicians took on the challenge of adding 3-digit numbers. Whether they are using base-ten blocks to "see" the numbers, breaking them down with expanded form, or jumping along open number lines, our students are proving that there’s more than one way to find a solution.
At JCS, we celebrate "Excellence for All" by meeting every student where they are and encouraging them to embrace challenges. We aren't just solving for "X"—we are building the Critical Thinking and Work Ethic skills that will last a lifetime!
Check out these snapshots of our students in action as they collaborate and grow together. 📸

Symmetry in Action! ❄️📐
Our 4th-grade "high-level thinkers" are diving deep into the world of geometry! Students recently explored the beauty of line symmetry through a hands-on challenge during STEM. Using geo-mirrors, they practiced creating intricate, balanced designs, and then took their skills to the next level by studying the unique patterns of snowflakes.
The highlight? Bringing it all to life with KEVA planks! Students collaborated to build their very own symmetrical snowflakes, proving that math is just as much about creativity as it is about calculation. At JCS, we prepare our students to embrace challenges and explore their passions through active, engaged learning.
